Diuretics:-

Diuretics may be defined as chemical agents which increases urine output by altering the normal physiochemical processes of body mainly kidney function.
Urine formation occurs in nephron(structural and functional unit of kidney), Urine may be defined as the net output of kidney after reabsorption of filtrates filtered by bowmans capsule from blood which generally contains waste material in form of urea and in some other forms (may be drugs).
Normal filtrate volume of blood  = 180 litres daily(24 hrs) approx.
Urine output = 1.5 litres daily(normally).
Rest of the filtrate is reabsorbd by the tubules of nephron.
MOA(mechanism of action of diuretics):-
Diuretics acts by generally altering sodium channels(Na+),potassiun channels(K+),chloride channel(Cl-),water channel(H2O),carbonic anhydrase enzyme etc..,action of diuretics depends upon the types of diuretics.
